What is Document Assessment?

Document assessment (also called credential evaluation or document verification) is the process of reviewing your academic credentials to determine their equivalency to the education standards of the country you are applying to. Universities use this process to ensure that your qualifications are genuine and comparable to their local education system.

For example, if you completed your bachelor's degree in Afghanistan, a US university needs to understand what that degree is equivalent to in the American education system. A document assessment report provides this equivalency analysis.

Common Problems Afghan Students Face with Documents

Afghan students often face specific challenges when it comes to document assessment:

  • Documents may only be available in Dari or Pashto and require certified English translation.
  • Some institutions in Afghanistan may no longer be operating, making document verification difficult.
  • The grading system in Afghanistan (1–100 scale) needs to be converted to the GPA system used internationally.
  • Some Afghan universities are not listed in international databases, requiring additional verification steps.
  • Documents may have been lost or damaged due to the current situation in Afghanistan.

This is exactly why TopABC offers free document assessment for Afghan passport holders. Our team is experienced in dealing with all these challenges and has helped hundreds of Afghan students successfully get their documents assessed and accepted by international universities.
